From the sermon: "The Baby in My Womb Leaped for Joy" by John Piper.
It's a magnificent thing: The only newly-originating life in the universe that comes in the image of God is Man. The only newly-originating life in the universe that lasts forever is Man.
This is an awesome thing.
And, as everyone knows, that reverence is not shared by our new President, over whom we have rejoiced.
He is trapped and blind in a culture of deceit. On the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, he released this statement,
"We are reminded that this decision not only protects women’s health and reproductive
freedom, but stands for a broader principle: that government should not intrude on our
most private family matters."
To which I say:
No, Mr. President, you are not protecting women; you are authorizing the destruction of 500,000 little women every year.
No, Mr. President, you are not protecting reproductive freedom; you are authorizing the destruction of freedom for one million little human beings every year.
No, Mr. President, killing our children is killing our children no matter how many times you call it a private family matter. You may say it is a private family matter over and over and over, and still they are dead. And we killed them. And you, would have it remain legal.
Mr. President, some of us wept for joy at your inauguration. And we pledge that we will pray for you.
We have hope in our sovereign God.

Work, Work and more Work
It's been a great day thus far! Went this morning and did some work at a good friends house, helping her get her life all organized for the family coming in this weekend for her daughter's graduation, went to lunch, finished the work at the house and came back to the office. Going to have dinner tonight with some good friends, watch AI and vote 5000000x for Kris Allen, hoping to make him the next American Idol, and then home to get ready to do it all over again tomorrow.
We showed the house yesterday. Apparently the couple liked the house, but thought that it didn't really fit them. Losers. Someone needs to buy my house already. For real.
On a happier note, I just finished up the semester and am all registered and ready to go for my FINAL semester as an undergraduate student. 3 online courses in 8 weeks and I am FINISHED!!! YAY! (I hate you Holly.... you know why!)

Sigh
How unfair for a guest celebrity on American Idol to pimp out a contestant? I mean seriously, as if the judges aren't doing enough for Adam, Katy Perry has to be a part of it too!? Don't get me wrong, that boy can sing, but I'm for Kris Allen all the way since Danny is no more!!! No wonder Adam screeched, "I want to see Katy Perry" when Danny was expressing his desire to get the results over with. Anyone else think Perry's performance was a bit dramatic and disturbing? The Idol guest performances have been interesting to say the least this season. Here's to hoping they get better next season!

Update
Wow.. life has been incredibly busy lately! Here's whats been going on in the Pfeifer house as of late.....
Doug FINALLY received the conditional offer of employment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He completed his physical and mental checkup's, spoke with the psychiatrist and apparently they concluded that he is normal. Who knows where they came up with that conclusion! We put our house on the market and hope to sell soon! Doug starts the academy July 1. Unfortunately, we will not know where he will be assigned until closer to time for him to graduate. Probably around October-December time frame.
That throws us into another obstacle. My education. I graduate August 15th and cannot begin a Master's program until I know where the MSHP is sending us. I'm praying that they send us somewhere close to Springfield, KC, StL, or Columbia as those are the only cities in MO with accredited Social Work programs.
My other concern may seem petty and minor to most, but to me its a huge concern. I am the proud momma of a beautiful 2 year old American Pit Bull. Due to ignorance and pre-conceived schemata, my baby is considered a threat in many towns and is banned. The heinous actions of ignorant people who brutalize the poor breed have contributed to an uneducated fear of one of the most loyal breeds on the planet. That being said, Pit Bull's do have an aggressive nature, mostly towards other dogs, specifically male dogs, as Pit's want to be the "leader of the pack" or the alpha male in most circumstances, however, Pit's are extremely loyal to their owners and are usually people friendly. Human aggression in a Pit Bull is RARE!!!! You can train any dog to hate humans, not just Pit's, which is part of the reason, I am adamantly against BSL (breed specific legislation) laws. Any dog owner needs to cognizant of their pets boddy language and moods to head off any dangerous situations.

Valentine's Day
This weekend was a blast. Between the scavenger hunt, the marriage conference and the beautiful roses that my husband bought me, it was by far the best weekend of the year thus far. Not only did I get to spend the entire weekend with my husband, I also got to laugh and enjoy the company of my closest friends. I wish it were Valentine's day everyday!

Vacation time is calling my name..
I need a change of scenery. I need a beach, some palm trees, the sounds of the ocean and a break from life. A break from the mundane, just some time away from everything that consumes my thoughts so I can focus on myself and on my husband.
Vacation time is calling my name.

The decision is made..
My husband has decided to reenlist. I'm both happy and scared. I love that my husband is a soldier. I'm so incredibly proud of him for his bravery and his service, yet I am terrified of another deployment. Don't get me wrong, I accept that he will probably go again and I'm okay with that for the most part, I married a soldier and I accept that duty, however accepting it is not the same as being happy about it. It's a sad, lonely life when your soldier is gone from home for a year and a half.
That all being said, I must say that I am very proud of my soldier and look forward to whatever God brings our way!

Wow..
We finally got some snow! A lot of it too! On Tuesday night we left our home to go spend some time with our friend on his birthday. We got our car stuck when we got off the interstate, got out of that jam, and got stuck again trying to get into our friends drive way. This should have clued us in and we should have headed home immediately. However the husband said he didn't drive all the way to Waynesville (like's it that far.. ) just to turn around and go home. So.. we spent about an hour at Chad's before leaving to go home. After 10 minutes of scraping snow and ice off our our car, we left and made it all the way to Hwy 133 exit before we had to turn around. There was a semi turned sideways in the road blocking our road to our house! Doug said that there was no way our car would make it up the hill if we went up Hwy 7. So we drove back to Waynesville to borrow a friends 4-wheel drive to make it home. Our car got stuck another 2x before we made it in their driveway! We finally made it home after about 3 1/2 hours of getting stuck and pushing cars in the snow.
For the record, my car is still stuck in the snow.

BRRRRR......
It is SOOOOOOO.... cold outside! Why can't we get some snow... without the below 0 temperatures? When it's this cold outside, it makes me miserable.
On a more positive note, we've been doing the Dave Ramsey budget in our household since the beginning of the month and 15 days into it I've paid off all credit card debt. We didn't have much as we pay it off pretty regularly but it feels good anyhow.

I was wrong!
After further research, I've found that my preconceived notions on the LPC program at Webster versus the MSW program at MSU were incorrect! MSU is WAY cheaper (almost half the price actually...)! MSU does offer afternoon and evening classes as well as some online! Although it's farther from home the cost difference more than makes up for the gas that will be spent driving. I've always found that MSW degrees are more marketable than LPC's. I must now take the GRE. Oh joy.

Joys of Education..
After talking with a good friend about our career options and education possibilities, I am more confused than ever. (thanks Holly..) I have no specific plans to work with the military as I want to work with children primarily, however I do not wish to close the door to working with the Federal government. My problem now is that I do not know which Master's program to enroll in!? The Masters in Counseling (LPC-licensed professional counselor) or the Masters in Clinical Social Work (LCSW). The federal government does not recognize LPC's and therefore hire LCSW for therapist positions. The LPC program is more "user-friendly" as it is closer to home, cost less and classes are held in the evening, so I'm leaning towards that one. I just don't want to spend all the money and find out that I should have gone the other route.
Oh.. the joys of education.
Oh.. the joys of education.

Where are you Mr. Snow?
